Written and Directed by Dr. Gigi Perez-Langley What happens when a black belt gets breast cancer?

"The Mat" is a one-woman performance exploring the ways martial arts and performance studies intertwine during life's most complicated turns. Dr. Gigi explores martial arts and storytelling as a way to understand her position as a mother, a martial artist, an academic, and a breast cancer survivor.
