**Music Makers Presents: All Saints ‘After Dark’ featuring Leeroy Stagger and Tommy Van Solo — March 5th -- Music begins at 7:30pm (Doors open at 7pm)**
Leeroy Stagger will be joined by fellow musicians Ryland Moranz and Tyler Lieb on Salt Spring this March. They will perform songs from Leeroy's upcoming album, Pilgrimage, as well as a slew of older songs intermixed with tales and stories from the road. The songs rove with the acumen of ancient peoples exploring variegated landscapes, goosed along by flashes of old-school punk iconography, a kinked chord reminiscent of the harmonies and optimism of the 1960s, and raw rockin’ rhythms that shake your butt while they shake up your mind. Mostly though, the music sounds born to soar over those vast, airy prairies where Stagger’s songwriting journey accelerated, open stringed, open minded, open-hearted melodies heading toward the wide-open future bathed in glorious, long light.
Leeroy Stagger grew up on Vancouver Island, immersed in the sublime power of nature before moving to southern Alberta to write songs while surrounded by the relentless prairies. Listening to Stagger’s music one is privy to intimate flashes; Stagger doesn’t dilute the gritty, dark moments endured in the gloom of the soul, yet his music lifts, fueled on brutal candor and an unquenchable desire to capture the luminosity lurking on the other side of the horizon.
Opening the evening will be Salt Spring's own beloved Tommy Van Solo. Tommy Van Solo is the musical stylings of Tom van Deursen. A road dawg for most of his adult life, Tom has seen much of the world out of the window of vehicles on the edge of repair with a guitar in his hands. His songs tend to carry as much hope and optimism as they do self-examination and longing.
A founding member of two bands - The Boom Booms & Small Town Artillery Collective - and 20 years of working inside these struggling independent democracies to keep proverbial boats afloat as they careen around the planet has made the man into who he is. He plays drums with his feet, too - kinda cool.
Expect good music, storytelling, and musical proficiency.
