Intro to Praying Mantis Kung Fu

Northern Praying Mantis is often defined by the legendary blend of “mantis hands and monkey feet,” combining lightning fast grabbing, trapping, and striking techniques with agile, evasive footwork rooted in the monkey stance and seven stars pattern. This fusion of sharp upper body precision aligned with lower body movement allows practitioners to close distance, control an opponent’s center, and flow seamlessly into throws or takedowns—creating a highly effective and dynamic Chinese martial art. Students of Doyle Irish Stick Fighting and our other Internal Arts will find similarities to those practices as well, making this a great crossover practice.
