Small Grants, Big Impact!
During Salina’s Match Madness, your support of the Smoky Hill Education Foundation directly funds Teacher Mini-Grants—awards of up to $500 that spark innovation in our local classrooms. These grants empower educators to move beyond basic supplies and create truly engaging learning experiences.
See the impact in our community:
- Salina South Middle School: Students experienced the "Zoo to You" program, which customized presentations to align science standards with real-world animal allies.
- Social-Emotional Growth: At Holy Family Elementary, mini-grants provided "Conscious Discipline" materials that helped preschoolers transition from aggressive outbursts to effective communication and problem-solving.
- Student Engagement: In Hill City, the "From Page to Screen" project was so successful that new books had waiting lists five students deep before they even hit the shelves.
Every dollar donated during Match Madness helps us reach our goal of doubling these grants to support even more teachers and students. Let’s turn this madness into a win for Kansas teachers and students.

What is Match Madness?
Match Madness is a one-day only giving day extravaganza that raises money to provide long-term support for local nonprofits so that they can serve and impact our community now and forever.
You make a donation to one or more local nonprofit permanent endowed funds held at the Community Foundation and the Greater Salina Community Foundation matches it up to 50% with an instant cash grant that the nonprofit can use for immediate needs. It's a win-win!
