The role of acoustic testing in future-proofing homes through new-wave construction.
Step inside a place so silent you can hear your own heartbeat. We’re inviting you to Salford Acoustics - home to NIAAM, the UK’s designated acoustic institute as appointed by the UK Government Department for Science, Innovation and Technology - for an exclusive morning featuring a visit to our world-class anechoic chamber, recognised as one of the quietest rooms in the world.
You’ll hear from Dr Danny Wong-McSweeney, Lead of our Centre for Acoustics of the Built Environment, who will lift the lid on the surprising acoustic challenges in today’s housing – from the rise of modular building to cutting-edge new materials. Discover how acoustic testing is changing what ‘peace and quiet’ means in our homes.
Then, the real magic happens: you’ll witness a live demonstration in our industry-leading testing labs, revealing why standard acoustic measurements can get it wrong at low frequencies. This is where we push construction materials to their acoustic limits.
Join us for a hands-on, ears-open experience that will change the way you think about sound – and silence.
