Please respect my privacy at this difficult time’ is a body of work exploring unprecedented media focus on ‘the trans debate’, street harassment and exploitation of trans and queer people - predominantly trans women - though high camp humour, mirroring the pop culture obsession with speculations about queer celebrities and icons.
Recreating intrusive paparazzi photography and newspaper clippings, isolated figures are captured in intense and uncomfortable scrutiny of the cis gaze on trans people. Like old Hollywood stars, we lack the anonymity of the general public, but have none of the benefits that accompany their fame.
ANDI was the Judges choice winner at the AIR Open 2024 and we're so pleased to present a brand new body of works for this show in collaboration with Paradise Works
