Painting Prosaic Realism w/ Matt Chinian

With basic “tools,” producing an accurate depiction of what’s in front of you is easy! (no it’s hard, but achievable) In this workshop, Matt Chinian will introduce the “sight-size” method, a basic concept in observational realism, and how to apply it to painting urban landscapes. Matt Chinian will do a short demo, then we will spread out on the SAW campus and paint.

We will work on composition, value, color, and the use of mass and line in painting. Color mixing and paint application will also be introduced. Participants should bring their own brushes, easel, etc. Please contact us if you don’t have your own and need to borrow some of ours.

Ages 16 and up.
Time: 10 AM - 3 PM
