🚍 Presentation Overview
Cherriots will share exciting updates from their Creating Community Connections Service Enhancement Plan, a community-driven effort to expand and improve local transit.
Short-term improvements include:
• More frequent buses and longer service hours on weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• Faster trips using traffic signal priority
• Safer, more accessible bus stops
These changes could increase service by 186% on Sundays, 82% on Saturdays, and 24% on weekdays.
Looking ahead, Cherriots will highlight long-term plans:
• A new East Salem Transit Center
• Flexible, on-demand microtransit
• Bike and scooter share options for first- and last-mile connections
• Special event service and a frequent-stop downtown Salem circulator
• A unified payment system across all travel modes
• A Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system for Salem and Keizer
• A centralized Cherriots operations campus
These investments are designed to connect people to work, school, healthcare, and community life—helping build a stronger, more connected region.
Transportation to meeting
Transit:
Keizer Transit Center also serves as a park and ride, where folks can park and take transit to the Down Transit Center, which is where the meeting will be at. Routes 9 and 19 serve Keizer every 15 minutes. To plan your trip, go to
https://www.cherriots.org/tripplanner/.
Carpool:
Plan ahead and share the ride with a colleague.
Parking:
There is plenty of on-street parking next Courthouse Square. For more information, go to
https://www.cityofsalem.net/community/neighborhoods/parking/beep-beep-salem.
Reminder: Downtown Salem has parking fees. A good option is to use the Keizer Transit Center. Route 19 goes from the Keizer Transit Center to the Downtown Transit Center every 15 minutes. Take the bus and see for yourself how Cherriots operates.
✨ Free for Keizer Chamber members. Guests are welcome! (Non-members may attend up to two Greeters before joining.)
