Priests, teachers, and poets, the Druids were some of the earliest pagans, dating back as far as 8 th century BCE, prior to known Egyptian traditions. They were the learned class and elders of ancient Celts, a people who spanned Britanna, Europe, through to the Indian subcontinent. They advised kings, judged public and private disputes, and oversaw the spiritual rites of the community. They were the world’s first magicians.
It took as much as 20-years of study to become a Druid. Yet very little is known of them because Druids didn’t keep written records. Much of what is known comes from people who conquered them.
Discover the mysteries and magic of the ancient Druids with Ellen Evert Hopman. A lifelong scholar of Druidry and herbalism, Ellen has authored 17 books and scores of articles. She is the founder and former co-Chief of the Order of White Oak (Ord Na Darach Gile), bard of the Gorsedd of Caer Abiri and Vice President of the Henge of Keltria Druid Order. She is currently a member of the Grey Council of Mages and Sages, and Archdruid emerita and founder of The Tribe of the Oak (www.tribeoftheoak.org ).
This is a very special limited enrollment event. During the evening, Ellen will be signing first edition copies of her recent book, “Celtic Druidry– Rituals, Techniques and Magical Practices” (limited quantities of the book will be available).
