Over six weeks, you’ll dive deep into the craft of wheel thrown teapots and cups. Guided by your tutor Ella, you’ll learn the full process of throwing and assembling a tea set incorporating all the different skills required to make a a tea set from throwing the tea pot to adding spout, pulling a handle, throwing a lid to match the pot taking into account shrinkage, then focussing on consistency and control as you create a set of cups.
Each week will cover key skills such as trimming, pulling handles, lid fitting, spout attachment, and surface decoration.
This course is ideal for confident beginners who have some experience centring clay and throwing basic forms. You’ll work in a small group of four with plenty of one to one guidance and time to refine your personal style.
By the end of the six weeks, you’ll have created a balanced, fully functional wheel thrown teapot and matching cups a set to enjoy for yourself or as a beautiful gift.
