Remembering Oil Spring

The Oil Spring Territory has an ancient and important history. Crude oil served many purposes for Native peoples and was highly prized. The Seneca Nation successfully fought to hold onto and protect this land, against all odds, from the late 1700s all the way into the 20th century.
