The Atlanta Writers Club, Georgia Writers Museum, and St. Simons Island Writers present a writing retreat designed to help you relax, recharge, and write!
Schedule
- Thursday, September 25, 4:00 pm -6:00 pm: Welcome reception featuring networking activities and hors d'oeuvres
- Friday, September 26, 8:00 am-10:30 am: Kaia Alderson keynote talk on "Walking the Roads My Forefathers (and Foremothers!) Walked (Or How I Play in the Archives for Literary Inspiration)," with breakfast and coffee service
- Friday, September 26, 4:00 pm -6:00 pm: Dr. Harrison Scott Key keynote talk on "This Really Happened: On Writing True Stories"
- Saturday, September 27, 8:00 am-10:30 am: Denny Bryce
keynote talk on "Creating Impactful Scenes Using Short Story Techniques," with breakfast and coffee service
- Saturday, September 27, 4:00 pm -6:00 pm: AWC & SSIW writers panel on "Approaches to Finding Good Critiques," plus open mic for participants
- Optional activities include a silent write-in on Friday and on Saturday in a private meeting room at the St. Simons Island Casino (530 Beachview Drive, adjacent to Public Library)—to encourage writing productivity—and group lunches and dinners
