What is CarFit?
CarFit is an education program created by AAA, AARP, and the American Occupational Therapy Association to help drivers improve the “fit” of their vehicles for safety and comfort.
What to expect from this event?
At a CarFit event, trained volunteers complete a 12-point checklist with each drive. Some of the items checked are:
Correct position of driver’s seat
Driver’s ability to easily reach pedals.
Proper adjustment of mirrors.
Proper seat belt use and fit.
Line of sight over steering wheel.
How does CarFit help?
CarFit benefits the whole community by helping the senior driver be a safer driver. With one-on-one attention, CarFit technicians can quickly and gently identify an driver’s fit behind the wheel and explain necessary adjustments.
Why should you attend this event?
Recent survey findings show that senior drivers experience safety-related “fit” challenges with their cars including:
Improper distance from steering wheel.
Inadequate views from side mirrors.
Improper seat and head restraint height.
Attending this event will let you work with a trained volunteer to go over a 12-point checklist to help you get safely “fitted” in your car.
