This Sewing Social is suitable for individuals who require additional support or have not sewn for a while. Projects can be planned for you, or you can bring your own to work on. Fabric and haberdashery are included unless you wish to bring your own.
Intermediates - Monday 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th September. 7pm – 9.30pm. £70
For confident sewers. Bring your own projects to work on. Fabric and haberdashery available on a donation basis.
Beginners - Tuesday 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd September. 7pm - 9.30pm. £80
A course for complete beginners. All fabric and haberdashery provided.
Example plan: Week 1. Hand sewing, buttons, and useful stitches. Week 2. How to thread and use a machine. Make a simple drawstring bag. Week 3. Putting in a zip. Make a cushion cover. Week 4. Finishing cushion cover. Simple alterations.
Beginners 2 - Wednesday 3rd,10th,17th, and 24th September. 7pm – 9.30pm. £80
Suitable for people who have completed CET Beginners Sewing Social or who can use a sewing machine to make a simple item. All fabric and haberdashery provided.
Example plan: Week 1. How to cut a simple pattern from a pair of tracksuit bottoms/pyjamas. Week 2. Make a pair of elasticated trousers, using your pattern – use of an overlocker. Week 3. Make a lined Tote bag or a lined apron using the bagging out method. Week 4. Finish Tote bag/ apron. Make an item of your choice.
The Location: The classes take place at a residential property with a sewing studio out the back. There will be a sign up outside so you know you are in the right place. There are a number of spaces at the property or parking can be found a 5 minute walk away at the upper section by Iceland. Do let us know if you have any mobility issues or are bringing a machine and we can make sure there is a spot outside for you.
