Triq Mikiel Ang Borg San Ġiljan, Saint Julians, Malta
What does exploitation look like in Malta today, and how does it connect to our own history? This session opens up a conversation on human trafficking and exploitation happening right now, with a sharp look at how they’ve evolved and how they operate in plain sight. From recruitment practices to labour conditions, you'll explore how these issues affect a wide range of people, often in ways that go unnoticed.
The session also looks back at Malta’s history of slavery and forced labour, not as a separate chapter, but as part of the same story. By understanding these historical roots, we can better recognise how exploitation continues to persist and adapt in new forms.
You'll walk away with clarity on what trafficking really means, how it differs from other forms of exploitation, and where the risks lie in Malta today. It’s a space to get informed and sharpen your awareness on an issue that affects more than most people realise.
