About the event

Commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the burning of Fort Frederick
On 27 August 1775, in the early days of the American Revolution, privateers intent on interrupting the flow of supplies from the mouth of the St. John River to British forces in Boston, raided Fort Frederick at the mouth of the river, burned the Fort and captured the Loyal Briton, a brigantine carrying livestock intended for the Kings troops. The crew of the ship and members of the small garrison at the fort – with their families – were taken prisoner. Join the members of DeLancey's Brigade for a brief commemorative ceremony on the 250th anniversary of the attack. Learn more about Fort Frederick and the little-known Revolutionary War history of this area - prior to the arrival of the Loyalists.
