Models and Photographers of the Naperville Photo Group please join us.
Have you ever wanted to learn about light painting? This is your chance. Beginners welcome.
Models - We will need 3-5 models for this event. If interested, please post a comment below or message me to verify your intent to attend. We can't run this event unless we have a minimum number of models.
Models will be responsible for their own make-up and wardrobe. There are no specific wardrobe required however I will make some suggestions.
Flowy dresses will help the light painter to hide behind you away from camera view. Semi-translucent materials may give interesting light effects. Halloween looks may also be interesting and appropriate given the time of year. You may bring your own light emitting devices to add to the look.
Models need to able to hold a pose for at least 5 seconds while the light painting is taking place.
Photographers - There will be an optional $5 fee for photographers payable at the event. You will want to work in groups of at least 3. Multiple photographers can each set up their own cameras to capture each shot. Light painting tends to require a group effort. You will need to use a tripod and ideally a trigger release although not a requirement. You will probably want to work in bulb mode and turn off autofocus once you have the model in focus. Bring at minimum a flashlight although if you have your own light stick that will be helpful. I plan to bring some low cost light sticks as well as some home made ones.
I will set up one light painting station and detail my setup for those wishing to learn my technique. There are many ways to light paint so there isn't a single correct method. Anyone is welcome to set up their tripod and camera next to mine to capture the same shots. More experienced light painters may want to run other stations howeve working in groups is recommended.
I will post an attendee list in the discussion section showing those who have expressed their commitment to attend.
