The Old Yard - "Bois"

The Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA) invites you to our annual traditional masquerade showcase “The Old Yard” on Sunday 8 February, 2026 from noon. Set within the DCFA “Gayelle” on Gordon Street, transformed into an architectural space evocative of times long past, this immersive experience offers a vibrant journey into our cultural history.

Come alive to powerful portrayals of Trinidad and Tobago’s traditional Carnival characters, including Gorillas, Moko Jumbies, Blue Devils, Jab Jabs, and more. As part of the Department’s Legacy Year Celebrations, this special edition will spotlight Bois! (Stickfighting) as the featured performance, showcased alongside a the cast of traditional masquerade characters.

Adding an exciting new dimension, The Old Yard 2026 will, for the first time, feature a thrilling “Extempo Clash” promising sharp wit, lyrical mastery, and cultural commentary at its finest.
