Ceramics Mug Building & Lunch with Kate Sellers
10am – 3pm | Includes Pizza lunch at Tillingham & a glass of Tillingham fizz
About the workshop
Unleash your creativity and explore the art of ceramics in this hands-on workshop at Tillingham. Guided by experienced ceramicist Kate Sellers, you’ll learn how to hand-build and decorate your own ceramic mug using coloured slips (liquid clay). Ideal for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this workshop combines artistry, craftsmanship, and the serene atmosphere of Tillingham’s picturesque setting.
Participants will take home a handmade mug, finished with a coloured slip design and glazed in a transparent glaze. Choose to collect your creation from Tillingham (2–3 weeks later), or have it delivered to your door for a small additional fee of £6.
Workshop Itinerary
10am – 1pm Introduction & Mug Building Demonstration The session begins with a step-by-step demonstration of how to hand-build your mug using pre-cut clay pieces to form the body and base. You’ll also see how to shape and attach a handle, with the option to extrude your own or use a pre-prepared one.
Hands-On Practice Get stuck in and build your own mug, attach your handle, and begin to personalise the form. Handmade examples will be available to inspire your design.
