About Along the Silk Road
Along the Silk Road is a series of unique cultural events inviting artists from across Central Asia to share their often-overlooked traditional music and art forms. In collaboration with musicians, storytellers, and visual artists, we bring a vibrant tribute to the cultural richness of the Silk Road.
This summer, four acclaimed Tuvan throat singers and instrumentalists are traveling to Europe to take part in Echoes of the Steppe – Europe’s very first festival dedicated entirely to throat singing. Held on August 29–30 in the medieval town of Romainmôtier, Switzerland, the festival features live concerts, workshops, and the first-ever European Khoomei competition.
After the festival, the artists will continue on to the Netherlands for a series of rare performances. A collective of this level appearing in Europe is truly exceptional — and offers a unique chance to experience this ancient, powerful music up close.
