“If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.” — Seneca
That line has echoed across centuries because it cuts straight to the heart of how we live, plan, and invest. When storms come—in markets or in life—clarity of direction makes all the difference. It’s not about predicting the weather; it’s about knowing where you’re headed and staying the course.
But direction isn’t always about profit or victory. Sometimes it’s about choosing meaning over momentum. In 1968, the French sailor Bernard Moitessier was on track to win the first solo nonstop race around the world. But just before the finish, he launched a message by slingshot onto a passing ship:
“Je continue sans escale vers les îles du Pacifique parce que je suis heureux en mer et peut-être pour sauver mon âme.”
“I am continuing non-stop toward the Pacific Islands because I am happy at sea and perhaps to save my soul.”
He kept sailing—not to win, but to live deliberately. That’s the spirit we’re trying to capture.
We're launching a new series of expert-led talks: thoughtful conversations to help you better understand the forces shaping the economy, the markets, and your financial future.
To open the series, we’re honored to welcome Uri Zandsberg of Franklin Templeton, presenting:
“Emotions, Expectations, and the Markets: Weathering the Storm”
In this session, Uri will explore how emotions and expectations—not just economics—shape financial outcomes. It’s about the psychology behind the numbers, and how staying grounded—like Moitessier, like Seneca—can help investors navigate uncertainty with perspective and confidence.
This is more than a presentation. It’s a conversation to help you chart your course, build resilience, and stay steady in the face of change.
