The Giver

Welcome to a future, not too far away from now, where there is no war or conflict, no fear or pain, and no choices. Everyone in the community celebrates sameness and knows their assigned place, except for young Jonas. He feels different, and being different is dangerous. Upon turning twelve, Jonas is chosen to train under the Giver, to receive and keep the memories of a history forgotten by the public. What he learns just might change the world. Based on the Newbery Award-winning novel by Lois Lowry, this play will provoke conversation and celebrate what makes each of us unique. Suitable for ages 10 and up.
