Another year, another boat race!
Yes, RUC's annual boat race is back in business at Trekroner lake.
On the 5th of September, the new RUC bachelor students will get the chance to show off their creativity, speed, and durability, with prices to be won for both the fastest speed and most creative boat.
But hang on, we do have a few rules:
- Your team must build their own boat. This means no inflatable beach toys, mattresses, or... you guessed it, actual boats. This means that you will have to gather the materials yourself and build your very own means of transportation.
- Your team will have to sail across the lake and back. You are not allowed to use a rope to drag yourselves across. You cannot push your way forward by swimming or using paddles on the bottom of the lake etc.
- Your team has to build its own paddles, so you're only allowed to move the boat with homemade paddles.
- There must always be at least 1 person on the boat. This means no getting in the water and pushing it across.
Themes and costumes are greatly appreciated and again, may warrant you a prize, so get creative!
The festivities will start at 16:00 with a welcome speech, and the actual race will start around 16:30.
The specifics:
- 5-6 boats will race across the lake during each heat. The losers of each heat will be eliminated and the rest will move on to the finals.
- The fastest team across the lake during the finals will be declared the winner and receive their prize.
- After the boat race we'll do a quick sweep since "no evidence" is the way to go when you're an RUC student.
-You sign up with your team and your boat on the day by coming up to the information desk.
We will have music, sodas, beer, and more ready for you
So get your DIY on, come cheer on your friends, and let's celebrate the ancient tradition of university boatracing.
REMEMBER TO COME TO THE SEMESTER START PARTY, WHICH WILL START LATER THE SAME NIGHT!!
