Prayer Child

Does a child prayed for become a praying child? Certainly, there is a connection between a mother’s prayers and the spirituality of her offspring. The story of Hannah praying for Samuel illustrates this. And surely the Virgin Mary was praying for Jesus once she learned she would give birth to the Messiah. But what happens if a mother fails to pray? Isaiah 49:15 says, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.” As we consider these things, we understand that our destiny is influenced by our mother’s prayers but not ultimately determined by their absence. More importantly, our destiny has been assured to us in Christ.
