About the event

Textile Printing from your own Linocut
Create your own printed linen wall hanging in this textile block printing workshop with artist and educator Hayley Anderson.

About this Event

πŸ“… Saturday 1 November 2025, 10am–2:30pm, 30 minute lunch break included (please bring your own lunch, teas and coffees will be provided)

Join us for a creative textile printing session inspired by the Groam House collection. In this workshop, we will create a coat of arms style design which we will then carve from lino, and print on a custom-made linen wall hanging.

Suitable for absolute beginners, you will transfer drawn images onto your lino block, learn how to carve the design, and use fabric printing techniques to create your finished stamp using special textile block print inks. Our linens are sourced in the UK and are Oeko-tex certified 100% linen, meaning they are sustainably produced and of the finest quality.

What’s included:

  • All tools, inks, and linen provided
  • Expert guidance in carving and textile printing
  • A unique handmade wall hanging to take home

Suitable for beginners – no prior experience needed. Please bring your own lunch and some design ideas for inspiration.

🎟 Spaces limited to 6 participants to give a focused teaching environment.

This event is part of an exciting programme featuring 13 storytelling sessions and creative workshops running from October through January, generously funded by Museums and Galleries Scotland.

Each event is inspired by objects from our local history collection, using them as springboards for stories, crafts, and conversations. The aim is to bring the collection to life, showing how it connects to our lives today and continues to inspire creativity in our community.
