Live_ THE SPIRITUAL BAT
The Spiritual Bat fluctuates between deathrock, gothic rock, postpunk, darkwave and batcave, with a hint of psychedelia. Active since the early 90s, the earlier incarnation was known as Spiritual Bats (plural), an offshoot of the art movement I Pittori Alchimisti (est.1975), transmuting images into sound. Based in Italy, The Spiritual Bat is an independent, self-produced act which that carried out five coast-to-coast DIY tours in the USA, and played innumerable shows, including festivals like WGT (Germany), Whitby Goth Weekend (UK), Return To The Batcave (PL), Gotham Sounds (Germany), Castle Party (PL) in Europe, but also San La Muerte Festival, Vendetta Festival, SOGO Festival, Release The Bats, and The Red Party in the USA. Current members are guitarist and composer Dario Passamonti, founding member of the first incarnation (with former singer Matteo Bracaglia, in 1992), also formerly a painter of the Alchimisti group, visually impaired since birth and legally blind since 1994, and since then literally transmuting image into sound, his life experience through shadows and darkness into music; Rosetta Garrì, singer, lyricist, co-author, arranger, who had joined the band in 1995, as drummer, and Sydney Mars (Mescaline Babies, Hobbsend) on bass.
The Spiritual Bat: il loro sound inconfondibile vive in un rituale oscuro che fluttua tra gothic rock, postpunk, darkwave e deathrock psichedelico, evocato dalla voce intensa di Rosetta Garrì nel visionario soundscape offertole dalla chitarra distorta di Dario Passamonti.
La formazione attuale vede come sempre Dario autore alle chitarre e arrangiamenti, Rosetta alla voce, testi e programming, e dal 2024 Sydney Mars (Mescaline Babies, Hobbsend) al basso: entrato come live musician, oggi collabora al nuovo album.
La band ha all’attivo numerosi tour e ha calcato palchi prestigiosi in Europa - Wave Gothic Treffen, Whitby Goth Weekend, Return To The Batcave, Castle Party, Carpe Noctum (UK) - e negli Stati Uniti, dove ha intessuto diversi tour leggendari, coast-to-coast da New York a Los Angeles, da Chicago a New Orleans, fino a Tijuana e Città del Messico, partecipando a eventi come The Red Party, San La Muerte, e Release The Bats, oltre a innumerevoli apparizioni nei club underground più intensi e oscuri.
Il nuovo album, ancora senza titolo, si dispiega come cerimonia collettiva, raccogliendo la forza di anni di viaggi e di incontri, invitando l’ascoltatore a un’esperienza viva, catartica e condivisa, già prima della pubblicazione ufficiale. Un viaggio verso l'io e verso l'altro, rito sonoro che trasforma paura e dolore in visione ed energia, un percorso attraverso la musica metafora di trasformazione, ricerca di equilibrio nello sguardo sul mondo, tra distruzione e speranza di rinascita.
The Spiritual Bat si formano intorno al 2005 dalle ceneri del progetto “Spiritual BatS” (plurale), di cui Dario era stato co-fondatore nel 1992, poco prima che il suo mondo di pittore sprofondasse definitivamente nel buio del glaucoma. Ancora oggi, l’estetica visiva della band affonda le radici nell’arte: le opere del collettivo I Pittori Alchimisti (Biennale di Venezia, sezione Arte e Alchimia 1986) appaiono sulle copertine e nelle proiezioni live, in un dialogo alchemico tra luce e ombra. Nel 1994 gli Spiritual BatS aprirono a Roma per i Daucus Karota di Rozz Williams (Christian Death), segnando un capitolo di culto nella scena.
Recent collaborators have involved Ashkelon Sain (of Trance To The Sun and Devoured By Flowers, from Portland), Alessio Santoni (Volume-Ufip-Facus testimonial; from Rome), Aaron Nicholes (of Legion Within, from Seattle), Tyves Oben (Place4Tears and Scarless Arms, from Germany), and Massimo Ceci from Frosinone, Italy. The Spiritual Bat(s) – have always featured artwork by the Alchemist Painters (I pittori Alchimisti, Biennial of Venice, 1986), on their album covers and in their video projections during live shows, as well as repeated collaborations with old friend Doc Hammer (Venture Bros, Weep, Requiem In White). In 1994 the Spiritual Bats opened for Rozz Williams (Christian Death) and his Daucus Karota…"

Divaradiostar is a project born in 2020 blending the myriad contrasting feelings and the baggage of our different music genres: from punk to pop to glam rock, electro dance and wave.
The underlying idea to all this is that this kaleidoscopic fusion of personalities and music types can keep us going and live those moments of rekless spree, dancing on this blue ball that goes round through the galaxy like a tiny, personal and collective disco ball.
Divaradiostar è un progetto nato nel 2020 da un caleidoscopio di emozioni contrastanti e da diversi generi e movimenti musicali: dal punk, al pop, dal glam rock, alla dance elettronica, alla wave.
L’idea, o il sogno, alla base di tutto ciò è quello che da questa taumaturgica fusione di generi, sentimenti e personalità possa nascere l’impulso a non fermarsi, a vivere quegli attimi di leggera e incosciente follia sopra il nulla, continuare a ballare su questa palla azzurra che gira per la galassia come un’immensa, minuscola, personale e collettiva “mirror ball”.
