You’ve probably heard the term “Zero Trust”—maybe at a conference booth while grabbing swag, on a sales call, or from leadership in a strategy meeting. But did anyone really explain what it means? Did it feel like the “Zero Trust” train left without you?

I’ve been there. Curious and slightly skeptical, I dug into the literature and industry perspectives to understand what Zero Trust truly entails—and now I’m sharing the highlights.

In this session we’ll cut through the hype and focus on the concepts and underlying assumptions. I’ll also demonstrate some features of Tailscale that embody Zero Trust principles in action, giving you tangible takeaways you can relate to your own environment. You’ll leave with a curated list of resources for further reading and a clearer understanding of what Zero Trust really means.

If you’re already practicing Zero Trust in your organization, come ready to share your lessons learned. Let’s turn this from a concept into a conversation.

Matthew Moses is a Red Teamer at a Fortune 100 company with a deep passion for offensive security. Before moving into the offensive security space, he built and deployed incident response tooling to support cyber investigations and enjoys bringing new projects to life in Golang, Python, JavaScript, and a variety of other programming and scripting languages as needed. Matthew holds the CISSP, OSCP, and multiple SANS certifications in areas he is passionate about. Outside of work, he helps organize events for ArkanSec, a hacker and InfoSec community in Northwest Arkansas, fostering knowledge sharing and engagement within the local security community.
