Discover the birds that call Goose Island State Park home!
Join us for an exploratory bird walk along 12th Street and Big Tree Natural Area. We'll learn about and identify the birds we see on our route, which includes saltwater marshes, bays, and shorelines with many south Texas specialties likely to be seen. No experience required, all skill levels and ages welcome! We even have loaner binoculars for those that don't have their own pair.
Where: Meet at Big Tree parking lot
Bring: Binoculars, drinking water, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing. We have a limited supply of loaner binoculars available on a first come first serve basis.
Length of walk: You can expect to walk up to 1 mile, however we may not walk that far.
Suggested age: This program is best for those ages 12 years and older, but anyone is welcome.
Accessibility: This program takes place over relatively flat but uneven ground, a combination of road, grass, and sand. For questions on accessibility, email Ranger Sara:
