Workshop Description: In this workshop, we’ll explore the dreaded R-word: research. How much is necessary? What kinds are helpful? When does it turn from a generative activity to a distraction? We’ll discuss different tactics and approaches—reading literature and historical accounts, exploring albums and genealogies, physical travel—and their various impacts on the writing process.
Audience: writers of all levels interesting in using research to inform their work
Jeffrey Wolf’s writing has appeared in Conjunctions, Prairie Schooner, Chicago Quarterly Review, and elsewhere. He has received fellowship grants from DCASE Chicago and the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture and artist residencies in Iceland, Sweden, and at MWC. He teaches Creative Writing at the University of Chicago.
