Educators, homeschool parents, and anyone eager to deepen their understanding of stories—teaching literature can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re guiding students through complex narratives, keeping discussions engaging, or tackling books, movies, or plays you haven’t had time to explore yourself. Drawing from my experience teaching High School literature at a private school, leading homeschool book clubs, and Directing plays with Chesterton Stage Productions, I’ve developed a practical approach to make teaching, understanding, and discussing any story accessible and meaningful.
Join us on September 11 at Heritage Chapel in Rochester, NH, for the "How To Teach Every Story" seminar, based on my upcoming book. This session will equip you with a universal framework to teach or analyze any book, movie, or play—even if you haven’t experienced it yet. We’ll cover the story arc, a set of 20 questions to uncover themes and structure, and ways to apply these tools to homework, papers, discussions, book clubs, or creative writing. Refined through years of teaching and theater, this method transformed my students’ engagement with stories from The Iliad, to Fancy Nancy to Babe Pig in the City. Moving beyond shallow trivia and quizzes to rich discussions as we address challenges like sparking comprehension or teaching diverse narratives.
Schedule:
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: The Story Arc
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Break for Lunch
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: The Twenty Questions
2:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Q&A
Whether you’re a homeschool parent, a classroom teacher, or simply passionate about stories, this seminar will give you the tools to confidently guide others or deepen your own appreciation of narratives.
