About the event:
Discover the richness and expressiveness of oil paint in this welcoming, beginner-friendly still life class. In this fully guided session, you’ll be introduced to alla prima oil painting—working wet into wet to create a contemporary still life using bold, confident brushstrokes.
We’ll cover the essential fundamentals of working with oils, including how to handle your materials, build a painting in a single sitting, and develop confidence with the medium. Along the way, you’ll learn key concepts such as understanding values, colour mixing, and capturing form, helping you translate what you see into a lively, painterly still life.
You’ll work on an 8 x 10 canvas panel, with all materials provided. The class is kept small to ensure plenty of individual guidance and a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. Tea, coffee, and light refreshments are included, making for an enjoyable and unhurried creative experience. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a completed oil still life painting and a solid foundation to continue exploring oils with confidence.
