Abigail's "Quail" Trails are family walks, designed for children aged 4-10 and their families.
This Good Friday family walk of 2.5 miles will be easy walking, around Watergrove Reservoir in Rochdale.
We'll meet at the reservoir car park, just north of the village of Wardle and take a route, following decent paths around the reservoir and through the surrounding woodland, looking out for new Spring life emerging.
Time will be built in to explore the surroundings, observe wildlife, climb trees, or simply relax. Around this beautiful area are fantastic views, abundant wildlife, and historical features.
Paths are well maintained, but there is some elevation and some of the route is not suitable for prams / buggies.
Although it is a child-centred event, individual adults are also more than welcome to join us!
Child-friendly dogs are also welcome, on leads.
As with all Abigail's Trails this walk is led by a professional, qualified Mountain Leader with Outdoor First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certificates. Our walks must be booked in advance (follow the ticket link). This walk cost £10 for a family of 4; £7 for and adult and child combo; or £5 for an individual adult / extra child.
👀Keep an eye on our calendar on www.abigailstrails.co.uk for further Quail Trails in 2025 being added and I will also advertise them on our Facebook page.
*Quails are small ground-nesting bids, which inhabit grasslands, preferring areas of tall vegetation. Quails are more often heard than seen, with repeating chirps (sounds like children playing outside to me!).
