As artists passionate about the mental well-being of our communities, we are so excited to share these performances with you.
Mental Health in Motion's mission is to provide mental health advocacy, education, and awareness to our communities in ways that are creative and meaningful, thus fostering greater understanding and decreasing stigma around mental health.
Mental Health in Motion works with you to create a unique dance production for your neighborhood to celebrate local voices, uplift the community, and learn together. Through movement, storytelling, and reflection, audience members not only learn about important mental and social health themes but also witness their complexities played out in a dynamic, immersive performance. This holistic approach fosters self-awareness, empathy, and community bonds. Interactive elements can be included to further engage participants.
This year, we are working with 2 major community partners, that help us keep the event free for you! A Huge thank you to The Roanoke Arts Commission (Arts Connects Neighbors), and 5 Points Sanctuary.
The Roanoke Arts Commission increases the collective impact of arts and culture in the community by:
– Advocating for arts and cultural initiatives and investment,
– Developing and Implementing the City’s Public Art Plan,
– Advancing the City’s Arts and Cultural Plan, and
– Guiding City investments in arts and culture.
At 5 Points Sanctuary, we celebrate sound, we embrace it, and we explore it. While our live events and concerts unite audiences from far and wide, they also serve as a platform to promote and support our music therapy, hearing loss advocacy, and accessibility efforts. 5 Points Music Foundation, a recognized 501c3 organization, launched in January of 2017 with a simple mission: “To pursue the power of sound in all its glory.” 5 Points Sanctuary is a unique venue that bolsters resources for music therapy, hearing loss advocacy, and accessibility.
