WHY BE VOCAL:
Every year in the U.S., over 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable, yet too many mothers continue to lose their lives, especially in the year after childbirth.
Nearly 1 in 3 maternal deaths happen postpartum, often because warning signs like severe headaches, chest pain, shortness of breath, heavy bleeding, high blood pressure symptoms, and mood changes are overlooked or dismissed.
BE VOCAL exists to change that. Silence is deadly. Awareness saves lives.
THE POWER OF STORYTELLING: Data tells us what is happening. Stories help us understand why and how to change it. BE VOCAL uses real postpartum stories to bring visibility to maternal warning signs, amplify mothers’ voices, and remind our community that listening can save lives. When mothers share their experiences, we create space for education, connection, and prevention.
Together, we can ensure no mother feels unheard, dismissed, or alone during the most vulnerable year of her life.
CDC-FUNDED HEAR HER INITIATIVE: Huddle Up Moms was awarded a CDC Hear Her grant to lead education and awareness efforts focused on postpartum warning signs and maternal safety. This initiative empowers mothers and families with the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to seek care early and advocate for themselves without fear of being dismissed. BE VOCAL is the official community launch of this life-saving work
