New Year’s Day Hike!

When: Jan 1st, 12:01 am
Where: Campground Check-in Station Porch
Who should come? : Anyone and everyone who's willing to brave the cold and night to start the first hour of the year on the trail.
Ring in the New Year with a unique and peaceful 12:01 am night hike along the Tom Gray Trail! This mostly flat, ATV wheelchair-accessible boardwalk follows the scenic Doe River and features the beloved "Benny the Hellbender" story panels, making it a fun and educational walk for all ages. Plus, participants will get bragging rights to friends and family alike about starting the new year strong and before anyone else.
The hike is just under a half-mile: perfect for a gentle start to 2026. Ranger Graham will lead the way with a blacklight to reveal any hidden nighttime critters along the trail, and hot chocolate will be served to keep everyone warm.
Participants should dress for winter weather and bring flashlights or headlamps. Start your year with nature, quiet, and a little midnight adventure!
