Join UCLA Alumni from the San Diego region for a day of culture, connection, and community as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a carpool field trip to The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture.
Known as “The Cheech,” this groundbreaking museum is the first major institution in the United States dedicated to Chicano art and artists. Founded in partnership with actor and art collector Cheech Marin, the museum showcases over 500 works of Chicano art—from paintings and sculpture to photography and mixed media—that speak to themes of identity, resistance, cultural pride, and innovation. This is a chance to engage deeply with Latinx heritage, artistic brilliance, and the power of representation in the arts.
We’ll meet at Superbloom Café in Mission Bay at 8:30 AM to coordinate carpools into volunteer vehicles.
The drive to Riverside is approximately 1.5 hours. After exploring the museum, we’ll enjoy a group lunch at the iconic Mission Inn, a stunning historical hotel with rich ties to California’s cultural legacy.
Expect a day filled with great conversation, meaningful learning, and Bruin camaraderie.
This is more than a museum visit—it’s an invitation to honor heritage, build community, and expand our shared understanding.
RSVP now to join the carpool and help us plan logistics.
Bring friends, bring questions, and bring your curiosity.
