This in-person burlesque intensive will teach you all the moves, tricks, and confidence you need to shine on stage. Whether you're a seasoned performer or a total newbie, this class is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their inner diva. Who is YAMMS Burlesque?

Atlanta’s premier burlesque revue, established in 2019, proudly featuring an all black cast. We offer monthly shows at The Love Below Speakeasy, our home venue. We feature neo-, gore, comedic and classic burlesque arts, as well as aerial and side show entertainment. We honor the legacy of our shakedancer foremothers by offering a wildly entertaining, often imitated, but never duplicated good time! YAMMS BURLESQUE is Atlanta’s most dazzling revue!!

Every Wednesday at 7pm beginning 10/1

What are we learning?

Week 1:

WELCOME TO YAMMS BURLESQUE! YAMMS babes will be introduced to burlesque basics and begin to explore the diverse history of burlesque. We will also touch on stage presence and burlesque attitude.

Week 2:

Shake it Mama!! YAMMS babes will learn about traditional burlesque movements, hand choreography and facial expressions. We begin to familiarize ourselves with fans, boas, and an array of burlesque props. Students will also demo their first mini routine.

Week 3:

The art of the tease baby! YAMMS babes will dive into the art of striptease, including essential undergarments and removal tricks. Students will also receive a crash course in pasties! It's time for your first official twirl.

Week 4:

Let’s talk burlesque persona! YAMMS babes cover all things artist development, including your burlesque name! We also begin defining what gives you your individual spark.

Week 5:

A most dazzling crash course. YAMMS babes will learn how to bling from head to toe in true showgirl fashion. We cover hair, makeup and styling to achieve that overall polished YAMMS GLOW!

Week 6:

Things are getting serious! This week we get educated on the business of burlesque. This includes everything from backstage etiquette and landing your first festival to self care and accounting.

Week 7:

Tell me a story! Our journey begins with song choice but doesn’t end there. This week we find our “why” and get savvy on how to have an intimate conversation with an audience.

Week 8:

A star is born! During the final week YAMMS babes will review everything they’ve learned and take their exit exam. All before we get FULL GLAM for our first official photoshoot!

Throughout the course of the next eight weeks you will be introduced to burlesque icons both local and international. The goal of this course is to set you up for burlesque success. YAMMS BURLESQUE’s standard of quality burlesque and pristine reputation is a product of hard work and accepting burlesque as a lifestyle, not a hobby.
