This year’s speaker will be Dr. Megan Gannon, Associate Professor of English at Ripon College. A published author and poet, Dr. Gannon has taught a number of courses including, “Writing for the Planet,” a class which ran from January to early May 2025. Central to the course was the premise that building a relationship with a particular patch of nature requires our committed attention. South Woods Park, which is adjacent to the Ripon College Ceresco Prairie Conservancy and campus, served as the source of the “particular patches” chosen by class participants. Dr. Gannon will share the group’s experiences and some of the writing produced over the weeks of this special course.
The annual business meeting will follow with election of officers of the Board, an end-of-year financial report, and updates on activities over the past year. Membership dues for the 2026 calendar year will be accepted at the event or may be paid online at southwoodsparkassociation.org. Annual memberships are $15/individual and $25/household.
