NJHHS History Program: New Jersey Loyalists & the British Army

Program presented by the North Jersey Highlands Historical Society. New Jersey during the American Revolution resembled a civil war as bad or worse then what was to come four score and seven years later. It was brother against brother, father against son, husband against wife. And nowhere in the state was it more prevalent than in the north: Bergen County. Several thousand New Jersey Loyalists, those residents who actively supported the continuance of royal rule in America, actually took up arms to crush what they termed an "unnatural rebellion."

Join noted author & historian Todd Braisted as he examines the different roles and activities performed by these New Jerseyians throughout the colonies and what became of them at war's end.

Program takes place on Sunday, September 14th at 1:30pm and is FREE and open to the public.
