“Through The Looking-Glass” is an exhibition that reflects the diversity of queer identities and self-expression in Latvia. Supported by the European Union, the project offers a glimpse into a mirror that reveals the everyday lives and challenges of the queer community. Ballroom culture, which has developed in Latvia as a safe space for queer people, allows them to express themselves through various artistic disciplines. The exhibition features photographs by Latvian artist Paula Betija Antenišķe, capturing ballroom events that have taken place in Latvia over the past few years.

Paula Betija Antenišķe @paulaanteniske (1996) holds a Bachelor’s degree in Movement.Image.Sound from the Art Academy of Latvia. In her professional work, she provides photographic documentation of events, openings, and exhibitions. The specific knowledge and skills gained through this practice are used in the development of her artistic work. Her main themes revolve around shifting perspectives, zooming in and out — both physically and mentally — as well as the human inner nature and its impulses. Recently, the artist has turned more toward studies of materiality, observing and manipulating the characteristics of paper, images, and print, exploring their potential and limitations.
