Peated Whisky Dinner "Celtic Smoke" - Riga Whisky & Friends

A special highlight of the festival will be the visit of world-class whisky guru Ron Welsh to the Benjamin House Cocktail Bar on September 12. We can’t wait to meet him at the peated whisky dinner “Celtic smoke”!

At the festival’s opening dinner, we’ll dive into Ron Welsh’s stories, paired with exclusive whiskies and refined dishes by chef Māris Jansons and the “Kest” team.

With more than 30 years of experience and as the former Master Blender at Beam Suntory, Ron has created over 140 new whiskies for prestigious brands such as Laphroaig, Bowmore, and Auchentoshan.

Whiskies to accompany the stories:

✖️ Balvenie Peat Week 48,3% non-chill filtered // Traditionally unpeated, but once a year the distillery turns into a peat haven to craft this delicate rarity

✖️ Ardmore // A distinctly smoky yet gentle Highland malt

✖️ Ardara // A brand-new Irish distillery producing peated whiskey, blending both pot still and single malt styles

✖️ Laphroaig 10 // The benchmark of medicinal peat, defining the historic character of Scotch whisky

✖️ Bowmore 15 // A legendary Islay icon, patiently matured for 15 years

✖️ Ardbeg Anthology V3 // A limited-edition treasure, aged at least 15 years

✖️ Highland Park 21 // Elegantly smoky, matured over two decades on the remote Orkney Islands at Scotland’s northern edge

During the dinner, guests will be treated to a carefully crafted journey of flavors by Māris Jansons, where each dish tells its own story – beginning with light and playful notes to open the evening, moving into bold combinations and rich flavors. The creations of chef Māris Jansons (KEST) will perfectly complement the whiskies of the evening and Ron Welsh’s gift for storytelling.
