Registration is now open for ISSP Photowalk No. 8: Mindful Photowalk with Alexandra Clod
📅 Saturday, 20 September, 15.00 - 18.00
📍 Grīziņkalna park (exact meeting point will be sent to registered participants)
"The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera."
Yousuf Karsh
This mindful photowalk invites participants to slow down, walk with awareness, and rediscover photography as a tool for reflection and connection. Through a series of meditative, presence-based exercises, Alexandra Clod will guide you into grounding with nature, exploring the world through the lens of color, and trusting intuition beyond sight. The event will close with a group picnic and discussion.
While we will use Grīziņkalns Park as a location, this walk will be more about tracing the landscapes within. “I would like to invite you for a mindful passage where walking with a camera becomes a way to meet yourself, to notice your own sensations, thoughts, and presence, and to let photography serve as a gentle anchor in the here and now.”
Alexandra Clod is a Ukrainian interdisciplinary artist, psychologist, and researcher working with photography and video, exploring emotions and memory in postcolonial societies. In addition to her artistic practice, she has a background in counselling psychology. In 2023, she focused her master's thesis in psychology on the transformative power of photography in times of turmoil. Since then, she continues to investigate the therapeutic potential of photography and its role in cultivating self-awareness and collective coherence. In September, Alexandra is in Latvia taking part in the ISSP Riga Residency programme.
Anyone interested in photography as a tool for grounding and self-discovery is welcome to join!
