Save the date for the next Artist Talks with our current artist in residence, Joseph Kennel (NL)!
Joseph Kennel is an artistic researcher and photographer from France, currently based in the Netherlands. His practice centers around a careful meditation on how materials and spaces can reveal to us deep histories, layers whose connections may transport us to unusual places. He utilizes photography as a tool to question our relationship to time, processes that have ‘othered’ nature, and the complex ways in which landscapes shape us.
Joseph is a graduate of a Master's program in Photography and Society from The Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.
During his residency at ISSP, Joseph has been working on a new project that engages with megalithic boulders and everyday stones, looking into the stories they hold.
During his talk, Joseph will reflect on how he has been utilising photography to explore the myths and stories embedded in the Latvian Landscape and its role in recreating our relationships to the past, future, and present.
