Southside ReLeaf invites you to join us for our Spreading Roots Urban Forest Walking series this September! Enjoy morning movement in nature, learn about the current progress and future projects of a new Southside Richmond park, and feel the significant temperature relief from the day's rising temperature under the canopy. At each walk, we will provide you with a different infographic about the benefits of urban greening, which is part of the free Spreading Roots toolkit.
When are the walks?
Join us every Wednesday in September for a walk by the wetland.
--Wednesday, September 3 | 9 - 10 am
--Wednesday, September 10 | 9 - 10 am
--Wednesday, September 17 | 9 - 10 am
--Wednesday, September 24 | 9 - 10 am
Feel free to stay for as little or as long as you like!
Where are the walks?
Using your GPS, navigate to 6102 Lamar Drive. This address will get you closest to the park’s walking access path. Ideally, park by the median of the Beaufont Court loop or along Lamar Dr. and walk over. Please do not park directly at the dead end of the road. That area will be reserved for Parks and Recreation vehicles.
What should I bring?
Please wear shoes appropriate for navigating uneven terrain and potential mud. Dress for the weather. Long pants are recommended to protect against tall grasses and insects, but they are not required. Please bring a refillable water bottle and sun protection.
Do I need to sign up?
Yes! Please sign up for any walks in the series you plan to attend through CFengage. There’s one registration form for all walks at Reedy Creek. In August, don’t miss our urban forest walking series at Ernest Road Park. If you have any questions about this urban walking series, please email Lisa at
