Our October program will feature three speakers highlighting the excellent work being done by citizens like ourselves on commissions in the City of Richmond. Come learn what they do and how you can help. The speakers will be Daniel Hart, Chair of the Sustainability and Resilience Commission, Trieste Lockwood, Vice Chair of the Public Utilities and Services Commission, and Steve Marzolf, Chair Clean City Commission.
Daniel Hart serves as Chair of the City of Richmond's Sustainability and Resilience Commission. Daniel works at the intersection of human ecology, education, and social change. He's spent the last decade leading organizational change efforts towards climate justice, sustainability, and resilience at the university, municipal, and non-profit levels. Currently, Daniel works as Associate Director of Sustainability and Environmental Justice at the University of Richmond and is Affiliate Faculty in the School of Environment and Sustainability at the University of Cincinnati. He holds a Masters of Community Planning and Certifications in Permaculture Design and Peace and Conflict Studies.
Trieste Lockwood is Vice Chair of Richmond City's Public Utilities and Services Commission. She is also the president and founder of Lockwood Strategies, a boutique clean energy policy and consulting firm based out of Richmond, VA. She works with environmental nonprofit organizations, clean energy companies, associations, and others to navigate government processes and help clients achieve their climate and energy goals. She has over a decade of experience in public policy and advocacy work in Virginia and has worked at numerous nonprofit organizations. Prior to launching Lockwood Strategies, Trieste served in Governor Ralph Northam's administration in different roles, including as the Senior Policy Advisor to the Department of Environmental Quality and as the Chief Energy Advisor to the Governor.
Steve Marzolf is the Chair of the Richmond Clean City Commission. After a 30-year career in state and local government, Steve retired to spend more time volunteering in his community. He is currently treasurer and project manager for the tree planting and park design projects for the Swansboro West Civic Association, vice-president of the Richmond Tree Stewards and a fellow member of the Sierra Club Falls of the James Group.
