Point Pinole is Dynamite!

For 80 years, Pt. Pinole in Richmond was home to four explosives plants, which manufactured 2 billion pounds of dynamite. Our hike route circles this hidden treasure at the edge of the Bay. We’ll explore the relics of the town of Giant, look for shorebirds, and get some spectacular views from the San Francisco Bay Trail (fog permitting).

We'll assemble at the picnic tables by the parking lot at the‬‭ Giant Highway Staging Area‬‭.‬‭

Transit option:‬

‭BUS PARTY! Walk leader Janet Byron will be taking the AC Transit 71 bus‬ from El Cerrito Plaza BART station at 1:29 pm (Del Norte BART 1:35 pm;‬ Richmond BART 1:44 pm). Arrives ~ 2:15 pm at Pt. Pinole. The bus leaves at 5:12‬pm for the return trip. Fare is $2.50 each way with Clipper Card.‬
