Book Discussion: West with Giraffes

West with Giraffes is a historical fiction novel, inspired by the true story of the first two giraffes brought to the San Diego Zoo in 1938. The novel, narrated by a young Dust Bowl survivor Woodrow Wilson Nickel, follows the giraffes' perilous journey from New York to California in a custom truck during the Great Depression and Great New England Hurricane.
