This free workshop will convene a small group of 12 participants and focus on the fundamentals of crafting an exhibition proposal for non-profit galleries, artist-run centres, and community art spaces. Participants must submit a written proposal by September 26, 2025 in order for the host to review and provide feedback.

About the Speaker
Maria Filipina holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Arts from Simon Fraser University (SFU). She has studied in the Master in Arts Management program at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Italy.
In 2023, Maria curated installations for Richmond Public Art and Richmond Art Gallery along the Canada Line as part of the Capture Photography Festival. She was a keynote speaker at Big Pictures Lab 2024. She currently works as a Curatorial Assistant at the Richmond Art Gallery, where she manages exhibitions and displays of artworks from the Gallery’s Permanent Collection.
In 2022, she curated exhibitions at the City Hall Galleria. She is a member of the jury responsible for selecting artist submissions for both the Cultural Centre Annex and the City Hall Galleria exhibition spaces. Additionally, she serves on the jury for ArtRich 2025. Her curatorial projects have been exhibited in Vancouver, Florence, Italy, and Manila, Philippines.
About the Art at Work series:
is a series of professional development workshops designed for artists and arts organizations practicing in any artistic medium. The program is presented in partnership by the City of Richmond Arts Services, Richmond Public Art, and Richmond Art Gallery. The program is intended to provide artists and arts organizations with knowledge and skills relevant to pursuing a professional practice in the field of public art, performance, visual art and community arts.
