Not all blood types are alike, but you might be someone’s perfect match. Every two seconds, someone entering a hospital in the U.S. needs blood, and you can make a lifesaving difference.
Why blood type matters:
• O-negative: As a universal red cell donor, it’s always in high demand because it can be given to patients of any blood type and is used for patients and babies with weak immune systems. Only 7% of people have this type.
• AB: About 14% of people are this universal plasma donor type, which is always needed.
• B-negative: Only about 2% of people have this type, which is compatible with B-, B+, AB- and AB+ recipients, so donations are in demand.
Be the match someone needs and schedule your appointment today.
If you can donate, Versiti Blood Center of Dayton will host a blood drive from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 2 in Lingle Hall at Reid Health.
Sign up at DonorTime.com, on the Donor Time app, or call (937) 461-3220.
If you aren’t able to join us on Dec. 2, your next opportunity will be 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 20 in Lingle Hall. In the new year, our first blood drive will be held Jan. 6, 2026.
We appreciate the generosity of donors and their life-saving contributions to help others.
