About the event

Stop the Forced Removal of Inuit Children and Demand a Change in Case Processing
This is a Support demonstration to the Demonstration in Copenhagen arranged by Laila Berthelsen:

We stand up once again for the Inuit children who are forcibly removed in Denmark.
It is time to say STOP to the unjust practices that continue to affect our children, and to demand a fundamental change in how cases involving Greenlandic and Inuit children are handled in the municipalities.

Most recently, Høje Taastrup Municipality, after consultation with VISO, decided to forcibly remove an unborn child, as they assess that the expectant mother is “Danish enough” to undergo a FKU test and have the child removed. The expectant mother is a national handball player for Greenland.

This is an unacceptable decision, and we are seeing more pregnant women in the same situation. Several of these cases have been sent directly to the adoption team without VISO being involved, which is a breach of the statutory procedure.

There are MORE unborn children and young Inuit children who are about to grow up in foster families who do not have the necessary connections to their original culture. Several network foster families who have strong relationships with the child have been denied simply because they are considered "Greenlandic". This is a system that does not respect our cultural background and rights.

Our demands: 💥
👉Stop the forced removal of Inuit and Greenlandic children.

👉Change in case processing so that all cases concerning Greenlandic and Inuit children are correctly processed.

👉VISO must take responsibility for reassessing cases where the FKU test has been applied incorrectly and where the National Board of Appeal has upheld decisions that have been inadequately assessed.

👉A recognition of the culture, background and network of Greenlandic and Inuit children, so that they can grow up in a supportive and safe environment.

👉Recovery of closed cases (forced adoption cases)

👉Inatsisartut SHOULD take action.

👊The current system is inefficient, and we demand a change!

‼️Come and join us in fighting for our children's future!
